Internet-of-Things (IoT) is about universal visibility and manageability for decision making, and it enables real-time actions between up to millions of individual working units and the overall systems, i.e. the big picture, both within and beyond an enterprise. In the IoT world, physical objects are seamlessly connected & integrated into an intelligent network with business services and processes created to interact with these “smart objects” for timely decision-making and response. IoT systems typically employ sensors, M2M, wireless communications, IP networking & data fusion technologies, etc. to integrate or re-engineer business processes. These IoT building blocks are getting more and more cost effective for business to use as tools.

Together with SPRING Singapore and Singapore Industrial Automation Association(SIAA), COIE specially co-organised a networking session on Internet of Things (IoT) – Rethinking Technology, Markets and Avenues of Business Growth for the top executives of SMEs in the electronics industry to find out the opportunities and growth avenues brought by the latest IoT-enabled technologies, platforms and solutions on 30th March 2012.

Dr Tan Guan Hong – Founder of SysEng(S) Pte Ltd, part of the Tritech Group Ltd, shared his experience in technology and business innovation, and the journey of transforming his business from Electronics Test to a game-winning IoT solution-provider for vertical markets in Construction & Environment sectors for mission critical installations in Singapore and overseas.

On 23rd March 2012, SPRING Singapore, COIE and IPI Singapore co-organised a networking session on “Intelligent Systems for a Smarter World”.
